Low end will reproduce bass, but it won't boom. They are flat & neutral, especially in the upper mid range. I use mine as studio reference monitors because I no longer have desk space for my hefty monitors (brand starts with a K) and I cannot wall mount them. But I DARE you to find anything similar sounding with the same footprint for a similar price. If you produce music, you can do better than this. In my opinion, they are horribly suited for gaming or movie watching, but they can the job done if it's all you got. Rather, they are an all around solution for pretty much any audio application you desire. Overall Review: These speakers are NOT meant to excel in one role, such as JUST gaming, or JUST movies, or ONLY music production. You can temporarily fix the problem by unplugging the connection to clear the static charge that builds up in the cable not THIS much, but still, it's understandable I guess. and the RCA jacks are just know to get staticy from time to time. I have mine connected directly to the RCA jacks on my M-audio sound card. I've noticed that over time, if I leave my PC on for a long while (it stays on 95% of the time) I get the buzzing, usually from the R speaker.
I'm not an engineer, so I don't say 100% but it sounds like it.
It's like they are not able to handle the power they're fed or something. now to address the problem I've seen mentioned here sooo much. Tweeters sound a bit underpowered at normal volume and if you start to crank it they can distort & fatigue. Disappointing, since it would have been easier to address this than the fine way M-audio handled the mids & lows. I can take them anywhere that has a desk and make music on a laptop.Ĭons: The tweeters leave much to be desired. Your ears are level with the tweeters pretty much auto-magically. A big plus for anyone wishing to protect their investment. There are definitely smaller speakers that you can buy, but no way will they be as flat and natural as these while still providing the same bass reproduction in so small a package. Amazing because these things are so small. But they do not boom your ears (or the walls, furniture, etc) to death. it is defined and as accurate as possible for such a small sub. With any other speakers I've used, the bass is either too low to hear or it booms unnecessarily. I produce on the side and these allow my wife to listen to her music without the bass annoying my neighbors. Pros: Perfect for the home studio that lacks space.
